Introduction & Previous ICOCI Series

Following the success of the previous conferences since 2006, the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is pleased to announce the 6th International Conference on Computing and Informatics 2017 (ICOCI2017) which will be held again in 2017. Hence, ICOCI2017 welcomes participants/authors from all organizations, & professional societies from various countries around the world to join/contribute complete, original and unpublished research papers related to the significant advances in computing and informatics.

The 1st conference was held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia with the theme "Computing and Informatics"

The 2nd conference was held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia with the theme "Imaginative, Creative, and Innovative Ideas in the Digital World"

The 3rd conference was held in Bandung Indonesia with the theme "Computing for Entrepreneurship and Innovation"

ICOCI 2013

The 4th conference was held in Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia with the theme "Computing towards Developing Smart Communities"

The 5th conference was held in Istanbul Turkey with the theme "Computer Science for Improving the Quality of Life"

In 2017, the 6th conference theme is "Embracing Eco-Friendly Computing" which will be held in Sama-Sama Hotel, KLIA Sepang

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Nik Ariff Nik Omar is the General Manager of the Public Sector Group at Microsoft Malaysia. Nik is responsible for all aspects of the business driving Microsoft Malaysia’s strategy and execution in the Public Sector, which includes Government, Health, Education and Public Safety. He is tasked with developing and delivering solutions in five keys areas – productivity, mobility, cloud, big data/analytics and social enterprise.
Nik brings with him over 26 years of experience in the Information Technology industry, after having previously held a similar role at SAP Malaysia and Brunei for three years, leading the Public Sector, Healthcare and Education team, where he helped grow the business substantially.
His vast industry experience also includes various leadership roles with IBM, Percetakan Nasional Bhd (a Ministry of Finance company under Ministry of Home Affairs) and Avnet Malaysia. Nik Ariff holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Concordia University, Montreal and a Master of Engineering from University of Toronto, Canada.
Outside of work, Nik enjoys spending time with his wife and family.

Dr. Mohamed Moustafa Mahmoud (Dr. 3M), as he is known to his wide network of business connections, is MILE's Executive Director and co-gpibder. Madinah Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship (MILE) is a pioneer of Executive Education and Leadership Development based in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. With a Ph.D. in Decision Sciences, MA in Regional Sciences, and MS in Transportation Sciences (from University of Pennsylvania, USA), in addition to MBA (from University of Mansoura, Egypt), Dr. 3M has a presence and excellent reputation in academic as well as executive leadership circles. He was recently appointed as the Chief Advisor of the newly-established Saudi National Center for Performance Measurement of Public Entities. His past roles include Director of Office of Strategy Management of the City of Jeddah, Advisor to the mayor of the city of Jeddah, Advisor to the Minister of Labor, Advisor to the Minister of Health, and Vice-President of Savola Group. He was also a University Professor of Management Science for 20 years in Canada, USA, Egypt, Kuwait and Saudi Arabis. Dr.3M was also the advisor to the president of Arab Engineering and Management Consultants (Team International).

Germain THOMAS is currently the Regional Managing Director of Intelligent Home Systems (MY) Sdn Bhd for Malaysia and Singapore, specialized in building automation solutions for high-end residential projects. iHome is specialized in home automation systems integration, both for individual houses and commercial buildings. iHome work with major brands like Apple, Legrand, B&O, Bose, Traxon, Bticino, Somfy, etc. to offer our clients a daily "whaouh" experience of their living and working environment.
Germain spent the last 10 years in South-east Asia, first as MBA student in Taiwan, then as the Economic Counsellor of the French Embassy in Laos and Cambodia, then as Business Development Manager for a M&E contractor in Thailand, and General Manager of a facilities management firm in Cambodia.
Since June 2016, Germain is also a Director of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI). Finally Germain is married to a Thai citizen and father of 2 kids.

 

INVITED TALK

Arai Ezzra is the co- founder/CTO of DinarDirham, a brand which bring global innovation for gold storage through fintech and blockchain. He is also a founder of a company which is a leading provider of outsourced connectivity services to the fx market. He has been involved in the fx industry for over 10 years in technology, sales, marketing, and advisory roles, focusing predominantly on fx ecommerce products. Arai Ezzra has had the opportunity to give talks at a number of international fintech events in Singapore, London and USA.
DinarDirham is a breakthrough brand of company that provides gold, forex, and metal investments in digital currency. DinarDirham deals in digital & physical gold, with an emphasis on fintech and blockchain technology. Dr. Mazlan is the co-founder and CEO of Favoriot. He is ranked among 50 Most Impactful Smart Cities Leaders by World CSR Congress 2017, ranked Top 10 in IoT Top 100 Influencers by Postscapes 2017, ranked No. 20th Thought Leader in IOT by 2014 Onalytics Report – “The Internet of Things - Top 100 Thought Leaders” and ranked Top 100 in Smart Cities Top Experts by Agilience Authority Index May 2016.
Before Favoriot, he spent 2.5 years as CEO of REDtone IOT and 8 years in MIMOS Berhad as Senior Director Wireless Communications Cluster. He also spent 13 years in CELCOM (mobile operator), handling many senior management positions. Prior to Celcom, he spent 10 years as an Assoc. Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He was the Adjunct Professor for UTM from 2008 to 2013 and UTHM (2005-2005, 2013-2016).
Dr. Mazlan is a frequent speaker in many major & established IOT, Smart Cities and telco conferences locally and globally. He has served as MOSTI's Innofund, Technofund and Science Fund (ICT Cluster) Technical & Commercial Evaluation Committee and sits in Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) for several local universities.
He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a BEE (1984), University of Essex (UK) with MSc. in Telematics (1986) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a PhD in Telecommunications (1993).

Registration fees (presenters) include conference admission, conference set (proceedings and materials), lunches, and refreshments. These fees do NOT include the accommodation.

Authors need to pay the fees BEFORE 15 FEBRUARY 2017 in order for their papers to be included in the proceeding.

Refund of 70% from the total fee will be given for withdrawal made before or on 1 February 2017. However, no refund for withdrawal made after 1 February 2017.
